We spotted this little ripper at Santa Monica Skatepark. His name is Jake Peluso, age 7, second grade. Yeah, that's right I said second grade. His skating caught our eye, but so did the Transphusion stickers that were already on the bottom of his board. Jakers spends virtually all of his time out of school pushing a skateboard. He truly lives to skate and has the best time doing it with his friends, most of which are more than twice his age. He is influenced by anyone who charges hard and spends most of his time with the crews at Fullerton, Chino and Santa Monica Skateparks. His older brother got the fire inside him going at the age of 4 and Jakers has not looked back since. From the beginning he has shown the perseverance for progression and doesn’t allow the pain and fear to stand in his way. He is constantly traveling around Southern California from spot to spot to session any ditch, park, school yard, stair set and mini ramp he can get to. He has a true love for pools and dreams to someday design and build his very own backyard bowl. Jakers also has a passion for graffiti and art in general. He managed to get a few sips of Transphusion while attending an art show last year. He was given some stickers that night and has been proudly displaying them ever since. Jakers has long term goals to someday be a pro skater who has mad graffiti skills while holding a degree in meteorology so he can earn a living as a Storm Chaser on the side. Roni's Diner: Lakers take game 5!

Transphusion is all about supporting our local distributors. Roni's Diner in Beverly Hills is one of are favorites, not only for their amazing food and 3$ drink specials, but for their great people watching (and plasma Tv's!). So when I got a Twitter from @ieatatronis to come sponsor game 5, I was like "Damn this Twitter thing is out of control" ( and so is this Laker fan here):

When we came through to the diner to watch game 5 Lakers vs. Denver The Beverly Hills Police Department was having their late lunch. I don't know why but cops always look at me like this . . .

The Lakers started to take control after the half. This is about the closest I've come this year to being at a game (shrug):

Gunner Peterson (personal trainer to the stars) was sitting next to us at dinner with his family. Such nice people. He took a case with him for his gym and said he'd pass them out to some of his clients. Yes sir!

This chef at Roni's Diner looks like he just discovered his new secret ingredient . . . to life!

At the end of the night The Lakers reigned victorious, and as statistics will show you just about 85% of teams that win game 5 go on to win the series, which means LA could be hosting the NBA Finals Series in the next week or so. Kobe!

History was made this past weekend in Anchorage, Alaska. The best and brightest beards and moustaches from across the globe competed face-to-face (chin-to-chin) at this years World Beard and Moustache Competition 2009. Our hometown favorite Patrick Melcher came home victorious winning 2nd place in the Imperial Moustache category along with two other Angelinos making this year the strongest showing for the Americans since they first began competing in the WMBC's back in 1990. Lyoto Machida is the new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion

Lyoto "The Dragon" Machida knocked Rashad Evans out cold during round 2 of Saturday's fight. He controlled the action from the start of the bell in round one, and to this day has yet to lose a round against any fighter. I met Lyoto in Vegas this February at the Bad Boy MMA booth during MAGIC Trade Show. Coinsidentally Rashad Evans was there as well.

Lyoto's karate stand-up kept Evan's at a distance. After 2 rounds of controlling the fight, Lyoto charged in with a flurry of punches that wore out Rashad's chin. The final blow took out his legs and Evan's crumbled to the mat. It was an impressive victory and from where most people stand at this point, Lyoto Machida is the most dangerous MMA fighter in the world.

Transphusion caught up with Patrick Melcher the day before him and the rest of The Bristly Chaps drove off in their rented RV to compete in this year's World Beard and Moustache Championships in Anchorage, Alaska.

By now the crew is en-route which means the competition is about to get hot. Last years champ and this year's favorite Alexander Antebi has got his work cut out for him this year (if he decides to compete) with Melch and the BC team. Let's check out the stats on these two competitors:

I'd hate to be the judge for this one, but I like our guy's chances considering the champ looks like he could be on vacation. The question I have is that an Imperial stache or a Wild West? More to come from Melcher and the WBMC!

I got there early enough to check out all of the exhibits. The freshest for me was the AUGS installation over at Upper Playground . . .

Around 9:30pm the crowd of art walkers began filing into The Regent for the big show. . .

I spotted Danger Mouse at the bar ordering some drinks . . .

Transphusion Cocktail Recipes

These drinks were created for Transphusion by John Pomeroy, a popular mixologist out of NY. This picture below is not of John Pomeroy, just to clarify. It's simply a bartender dude who you can tell by the look on his is face is ready to party.

Sangrento (Bloody in Portuguese)
2 oz. Leblon Cachaca
1 oz. Transphusion
.5oz Lemon Juice
2 Black Cherries

Muddle cherries with lemon juice, add cachaca and ice and shake. Double strain into cocktail glass, top with pre-chilled Transphusion and garnish with a skewered black cherry.

Universal Donor
2 oz. Transphusion
1.5 oz. Junipero Gin
.5 oz. Cherry Heering
Dash Peach bitters

Add all ingredients into a glass with ice, stir and serve

Sangre Azul (Blue Blood)
2 oz. Transphusion
1.5 oz. Siembra Azul silver tequila
.5 oz. Lime Juice
5-6 Fresh blueberries
4 Dash Cherry bitters

Muddle blueberries, lime, & bitters. Add tequila and ice and shake. Double strain into ice-filled rocks glass and top with Transphusion. Garnish with a blueberry and a cherry.

Peruvian Tourniquet
1.5 oz. Barsol pisco
1 oz. Transphusion
.5 oz. Lemon Juice
4 Kumquats
4 Raspberries
1 spoon Kumquat Jam

Muddle kumquats, raspberries and jam. Add other ingredients and shake well. Double strain into cocktail glass and top with Transphusion. Garnish with a kumquat and a raspberry.

Guillotine
1.5 oz. Cognac
1.5 oz. Transphusion
.5 oz. Absinthe
2 spoon Luxardo maraschino liqueur
1 spoon lemon juice
1 Egg white

Double shake all ingredients (Dry shake [without ice] then with) and strain over ice in a highball glass. Top with Transphusion and garnish with a razor blade in a cherry.

Hey Guys! I am "The Dude In The Van." Say hi when you see me.

I like to drive around in the Transphusion Van delivering Transphusion to people at their place of work. I also like listening to music in the van, taking pictures of the van, throwing parties with people (and the van), making videos (with the van in it), posting blogs (about the van) and growing moustaches in the van. It's a cool job because I get to make people feel happy, mostly because I come bearing the gift of Transphusion. It's great watching people catching spirit around me. Like when I rolled through Long Beach and stopped at V.I.P. Records!

It's a tuff world out there (especially now), but you can find beauty and art wherever you go. Take for instance this TSL mural I spotted for the first time the other day out in Reseda.

A lot of people ask me "How can I find a cool job like that?" That's when i tell them "It ain't easy kid. Stay in school and get your degree. We're tangling with the big dogs out here!" I see other dude's, in other vans, from other drinks driving around every day. They got nothing on me! Now what's my mother******* name!

Vans artist Greg "Pnut" Galinsky designed 50 completely custom skate decks that were put on display and available for purchase at the Alva Skates shop April 9, 2009. It was a star studded event for members of the skate community and for the Fairfax District it was yet another great party to be proud of. Transphusion sponsored the event with an open bar and kept the drinks flowing on well into the night. Pretty dope pick of Tony Alva I'd say courtesy of "El Jefe"Jon Del Barrio!

I saw this documentary Crash Artist: Beyond the Red Carpet last week at The NewFilmmakers LA Screenings at Sunset & Gower Studios. It's crazy the length some people will go to catch a little fame in this town, or in this case, merely bask in the glow of those who are considered famous. At any rate, I really enjoyed this film and wish both the filmmakers and Michael Minutoli the best of luch. Honestly someone should really pick this up . . . HBO where you at?

Transphusion made another visit out to Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center´s in 29 Palms. The Marines out there are serving this country as true gentlemen. In fact, out of all our events and samplings I have never come across a nicer group. Yes sir, no sir, yes mam, no mam. Believe it or not, this kind of chivalry still exists, and regardless of your political views these kids deserve our support. Check out some pics from the base. Everyone walks around with there machine guns like it ain't a thing. Can I get down?

The Miracle Mile Art Walk after party will feature the works of artists, Sam Frost, William Curtis Rolf, and Genevieve Wahl at the Voila! Gallery (www.voilagallery.com). The artists will be in attendance to mix, mingle, and discuss their work.

During the evening there will also be a live musical performance from Anne Montone (www.annemontone.com), winner of the Scion Vocalist Competition.

An open bar will be provided by Transphusion (www.transphusion.com) a new energy drink, who's logo and art work was designed by Shepard Fairey. Food will also be provided by the Mid-City West Community Council.

The venue: Voila Gallery!, is an incredible art gallery that has been featured in the LA Times, LA Weekly, and Angeleno Magazine. It's located at 518 North La Brea Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90036. The event will take place from 6:30-8:30pm.

More information on the FREE art walk, including other artist lectures, complimentary lunches, 40 participating galleries and 40 participating galleries, is on the attached flier.

The Bakerboys held their 1 Yeay Anniversary Party from their home shop in North Hollywood, Ca. When we got there to set up the first person to talk to us was Antwuan Dixon, which was more like a right of passage. Check out this clip of Jim Greco getting down with The Sandman on Mike Tyson's Punch Out! (Don't sleep, they also had WWF Wrestlemania cracking up in the piece as well). These two games sucked up all my allowance for like 3 years growing up.

I was at Studio Number One the other day dropping off some Transphusion, when I got a call from Eddie Donaldson. He told me there was a stack of posters he wanted me to grab for him. Turned out to be the Guerilla One X Obey Giant X The Seventh Letter Collaboration Posters!! Signed by Shepard the poster represents the "unity" and "the strength in numbers" for which these three companies have depended on since their beginning. I know when Eddie started with graffiti back in the day, along with Casey EKLIPS Zoltan, Founder of THE SEVENTH LETTER, and Shepard Fairy, Founder of Obey Giant, they had no idea where it would take them. Considering there success I think it's fair to say, if you are passionate about something, like art, than your passion and your love will draw people into whatever you are working on, opening doors, and creating opportunities to work and collaborate with like-minded individuals who share your common vision. Congrats to Eddie, Casey, and Shepard. Posters sold out this morning in 3 minutes!
